BIOGRAPHY
Lenita Ponce was born in São Paulo, Brazil, into a family of artists and intellectuals, which made her develop and demonstrate her taste and talent for the performing arts from an early age. Dance was her great passion during childhood, and it was during her teenage years that she chose theater.
At the age of 17 she made her choice for a professional career. She got into university and had her first encounter with a large audience in the sketch “A vendedora de programas”. Written, directed, and staged by herself at TUCA and Renaissance theaters, a clumsy saleswoman made the real sale of the programs of the great shows playing.
She graduated with a degree in Communication of the Body Arts and Performing Arts Center from TUCA, and soon after finishing her studies, she founded, alongside the director José Rubens Siqueira, the Cia de Teatro Cru, a troupe she was part of for 15 years.
In 2013, she started studying for a master's degree in “Études Théâtrales” at Université Sorbonne Nouvelle - Paris 3, but in parallel, in Brazil, she won the Carlos Miranda Award from FUNARTE with the project "ANTÍGONA 2084", and she chose to return to Brazil to star in the show. In the end, she did not complete her studies in France, and only in 2016 she got her master's degree in Education from PUC-SP, studying the theme "Circus and Theater in the Construction of Autonomy".
In addition to her performance in the company, she worked several times as an actress and puppeteer in companies Caleidoscópio and Stromboli; she has been in shows like Beauty and the Beast, Andersen Sem Palavas, O Casamento da Baratinha, among others.
She produced national shows, and she was part of teams from international festivals, such as SESC International Circus Festival, SP International Theater Exhibition and MIRADA Festival.
Throughout her career, she taught theater classes for children and teenagers, specialized in teaching circus activities for children, and she continues to work as a teacher in several private schools in São Paulo.
